Introduction

In short, Cloudcast News is a FREE daily 5-6 minute on-demand audio newscast that you can subscribe to via email, twitter, facebook, Itunes, or any other podcatching software.

Here's why I'm doing this. I don't watch the evening news anymore, and I don't listen to music on the radio anymore. I download the talk radio and podcasts that I want to listen to and I've got over 8,000 songs on my ipod that allow me to listen to the music I want to listen to when I want to listen to it, and if I want to check out something new I go to Pandora. If I ever do watch the evening news, I fast forward thru half of it because it's stuff I don't care about. I also don't really care to hear what the talking heads on TV say about their opinion on the news, I just want the news, because I do like to have an idea of what's going on in the world around me. I'm guessing there are more people out there like me.

Just to let you know, this is the typical structure of the newscast: I start off with the heavy stuff, the world & political news. Then I go to what I call mainstream tech news, basically if there's a new website, web service, app,gadget or social networking change that's mainstream, think netflix, facebook, ipod/itunes, twitter, things that I think will make your life a little bit better, easier or more fun I tell you about it. Then I finish it off with Celebrity and Entertainment news. There's no opinion in my reporting, it's all straight news from sources like The New York Times, Fox News, The Huffington Post, Politico.com, Breitbart.com, The Daily Kos, Mashable, Engadget, TMZ, Radar Online etc... If you want to read further about a news story or a new gadget or service all of the stories are sourced and the links are available on the home page at cloudcastnews.com.

There are several ways to get the newscast, because everyone leads different lives with different schedules and different priorities. My goal is to get you your news in the easiest way possible so that you can be aware of the events taking place in the world and not miss a beat in your everyday life.

Facebook & Twitter

Do you spend 5 or 6 minutes on Facebook every day? So do I. Become a fan of Cloudcast News on facebook and you'll receive the audio twice daily (by 6 am EST in the morning by 6 pm EST in the evening) Monday - Friday in your live feed or news stream. Listen to it right there. If one of the stories piques your interest go to cloudcastnews.com and find the link to the entire story. Follow Cloudcast News on Twitter and receive the audio twice daily as well.

Email

If you sign up for the email podcast you will receive an email with the audio in your in box in the afternoon. I'm currently working to get this fixed so that the news will be waiting for you when you wake up, but right now the emails are arriving between 2 and 4 pm EST. If you have a newer smartphone you can click the link on the email and listen to the news right on your phone.

Itunes or other podcatchers.

If you are an Itunes user subscribe to Cloudcast News on Itunes. Plug in your Ipod or Iphone and your newscast will be uploaded in about 10 seconds (on a high speed internet connection). (Follow the instructions here to set up Itunes to automatically add the new podcast to your Ipod every time you plug it in.)
